3 Column Blog Background - Vintage Newspaper

This background was made using a wonderful old French newspaper circa 1882. I've added some pretty aqua scrolls over top of it for some added interest! This background was made to be used on a Blogger blog using the Minima template for a 3 column blog. (Please note, this will background will not turn your blog into a 3 column blog, it is sized to fit a blog that already has 3 columns on it. If your blog has 2 columns, this will not fit as well as one of my standard backgrounds.)

Follow these instructions to easily add this background to your blog:

1)Make sure you are logged in and then click "Customize" at the top of your blog.
2)Click on "Add A Gadget"
3)Scroll down the box and click on "Html/Javascript"
4)In the "Content Box" cut and paste the Html code posted below.
5)Click "Save" and you are done!

    Yes, of course, it's very easy! Just go in and find which gadget has the code on it for my background and delete it (to delete it click on "remove"). For more info check my Help page. You can access it, by clicking on the "Help" button on the right side of my blog.

  4. karen, i used had installed one of your other beautiful backgrounds and chose to change to this one. it is absolutely wonderful. when i applied it, the entire screen covers only the center without the scrolls. what did i do wrong? thanks for your help.

  8. I love this background more than any other I've found: vintage, textbased, sepia and aqua.... what is NOT to love?

    Yet blogger tells me it's incorrectly formatted when I try to copy-n-paste the code in - something about an img code not being properly closed? Could you check this and let me know? Feel free to post directly to my blog or answer here....

  9. Is it possiable to make this a two column background?? Or is it possiable to change colors?? I would love this one with red swirls or the new hand with blue dots, with red dots instead?? Just wondering? Your backgrounds are awesome!!

    What that means is that when you went to cut and paste the code, you didn't get all of it. Just try it again and make sure you get every character, if you miss even one letter it won't work.

  11. Hi Karen, just want to say THANK-YOU for such lovely backgrounds ! I am using the French one and I do like it, but now I'm feeling the 'bakcground addiction' and am trying to find more vintage/romantic 3 column bgrounds.
    I understand it's supposedly 'easy' to turn a 2 column into a 3 column ? My html coding is self-taught but all this new stuff gets me a bit twisted :P

    Anyway, I greatly appreciate you're posting these backgrounds, a wonderful thing to do :)

  12. Thanks, Karen! I had tried it three times previously on that assumption, and each time it wasn't working. However, tried it again today, and it seems to make a difference as to WHERE you paste it in the HTML setup code. Some places it won't accept the pasted in code at all!

    I finally got it to work and noticed that it had blank white edges on either side (I have a really wide monitor!) - setting the initial bk code to a matching aqua fixed that and now I have an absolutely beautiful blog. Thanks so much for making something that so suits my style, personality, and colour palette!

    If you are ever interested in doing a collage envelope swap, I have amazing Asian ephemera that I can trade you - hanji paper, vintage Korean newspapers, old product labels, gambling playing cards, and the like. Let me know!

    I just love your backgrounds. I have a 3 column. I am trying to add this background. Help, I must be doing something wrong. I have copied the whole code and pasted as instructed, but it shoves everything to the sides, leaving the middle post section empty.

    I'm not sure what to tell you, I've never heard of that happening before. You might trying adding it to a gadget on the other sidebar. For example, if you were trying it on the left side originally, then try it on the right side next time.

I don't have any blog, but use to use many images in the making of miniature books (mainly reproductions of old ones). I think the "shabby", old style of your images would be very convenient for my minibooks.
