Free Blog Background - Spooky Flourishes - 3 Column

Today, I've made you this fun spooky version of the newspaper background that I posted last week. This one would be fun for Halloween, but it could be used for everyday too. I've added black flourishes and a crackle effect to give it an aged look. I hope you like it!

Please keep in mind this is made for an existing 3 column blog, and will not turn your blog into a 3 column blog.
This free background was made to be used on a Blogger blog using the Minima template.

Follow these instructions to easily add this background to your blog:

1)Make sure you are logged in and then click "Customize" at the top of your blog.
2)Click on "Add A Gadget"
3)Scroll down the box and click on "Html/Javascript"
4)In the "Content Box" cut and paste the Html code posted below.
5)Click "Save" and you are done!

<style type="text/css">body {background-image: url("http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq185/thebackgroundfairy/backnewshallo2.jpg"); background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed; }</style><div id="tag" style="position:absolute; left:10px; top:30px; z-index:50;width:172px; height:51px;"><a href="http://www.backgroundfairy.com" target="_blank"><img
border="0"src="http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq185/thebackgroundfairy/1buttonlabelblawht.png"/></a></div>

Here it is shown with the matching header!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. How on earth do you make these? O.O
    They're simply stunning!
It doesn't seem like something you could make on an art program.

  7. Does this one come in the standard measurements or only in 3 column??? I have put it on as my template, but cannot view the swirls.

Thank you for this site. I was directed here by Snippety Gibbet who has used your templates for quite some time.

If you would like to see what I have done with my first of two blogs, go to http://perilloparodies.blogspot.com/

I am working on the second one now... Thank you again...

  8. Hi Daysease,
I don't believe I have this one in the standard size. I do however, have a similar one available, in the standard size, that has green flourishes.

  9. Hi Karen
Lovely backgrounds, I have used the 'Spooky Flourishes on my blog, tho' it's a bit too big. How do I get the header that goes with it?
    Thanks, Nia.

  10. Hi Nia,
I'm glad you like it! The banner should be in the "Blog Headers" section, you can find it on my sidebar.

  11. Hi Karen - I really, really want to use this background but when I save it, my blog contents get all squished up on the left hand side. I have just recently set my minima blog template to a 3 column, using the instructions from the blog 3 column blog...I wonder what went wrong??

  12. Hi Debrina,
I'm not sure why that would happen, it's not on your blog right now so I can't tell by looking at it. What 3 column blog instructions did you use, to create your 3rd column?

  13. Hi Karen - well, I didn't use yours, unfortunately ( I saw that too late). Instead I used the instructions from the 3 column blog site:
    http://www.threecolumnblogger.com/2008/09/three-column-minima-layout-version.html

I will try your instructions now and see if I can just tweak my html that way then try your background here again. Of course, if you could help me, that would be great, as I just LOVE this background (I want the header too!)

  14. Debrina,
I don't actually have 3 column instructions on my blog. It sounds like the ones that you used should work. I'm not sure what the problem would be, none of my readers have ever reported this sort of problem to me. Are you adding the background into a gadget, as per my instructions on my blog?

I just wanted to let you know that I am using this background for my blog, and I love it a lot! It is very...me! Thanks so much.
