Natural Linen Background - For Bloggers New Template Designer

Here's another background where I have reworked the code to go with Blogger's New Template Designer, for those of you that have switched to the new templates. This one is the Simple & Chic Natural Linen Background. You can use this with the 2 or 3 column templates that are offered with the designer.

Follow these instructions to easily add this background to your blog:

1)While in the "Template Designer" screen, select the "Picture Window" template (my backgrounds work best with the blue clouds
and green grass, looking one) or you can also use any of the "Awesome Inc" templates if you prefer.
2)Click on "Back to Blogger".
3)Click on "Add A Gadget"
4)Scroll down the box and click on "Html/Javascript"
5)In the "Content Box" cut and paste the Html code posted below.
6)Give your box a title ( you can use the word "Background" so that you can find it later!)
7)Click "Save" and you are done!
8)Optional step - Move the box, where you placed the code, towards the bottom of your gadgets, since whatever title you gave it, will be displayed on your blog.

<style type="text/css">body {background-image:url("http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq185/thebackgroundfairy/1abacklinen3colbf.jpg"); background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed; }
</style><div id="tag" style="position:absolute; right:925px; top:10px; z-index:50; width:150px; height:45px;"><a href=
"http://www.backgroundfairy.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq185/

  4. Dear Karen-
I love your backgrounds. They are the focal point of my blogs. I need to change to a two column background so that I can fit larger photos. I haven't got a clue. How do I change it?
    Thanks so much.

  5. Hi Joyce,
You actually do have a 2 column blog already. You could change to a 3 column blog, but that wouldn't give you any more space for photos. If you switch to Blogger's new template designer you can play around with the widths of your columns. You will loose your background that you are currently using though. However, I will be adding a new version of that background soon to work with the new templates. I hope this helps!

  6. I really like this linen background, but can I use it on the 'simple' template?

  7. Hi Fairmaiden,
It works best with Picture Window or Awesome, the gradient in "Simple" fights with the design I'm afraid.

  8. Can you tell me how to extend the linen background to show in the full frame of my background? I don't know very much about wrappers, etc...thank you! Right now you see only a portion of the linen background with bloggers blue background behind it. Thank you so much! www.booandbudroo.blogspot.com

  9. I'm having the same problem as Christine. There's only a teeny tiny sliver of the linen band showing. And of course Blogger won't let me get back to the old style layouts : ( Help?

  10. Hi Liz,
I can see the linen just fine on your background, if you can't see it, then it's probably your screen resolution. You would need to change the resolution of your monitor to show the whole thing, but meanwhile everyone else should be able to see it, when they go to your blog! If you still want to go back to Minima, click on my "Super Simple Tips" to find a tutorial on out how to get it back.

  13. Dear Karen, I had asked you if I may personalize the background a little and you said it's ok. Eventually I decided to use only the matching header. I changed it a little and gave you the credits in my last blog post. Please tell me if it's alright. If you mind what I did I'll remove the header. Huge huge thanks

  14. Flopy,
You are using the 2 column old Minima template. So follow the instructions for any of my backgrounds that go with the Minima template, with the standard number of columns, and it should work just fine! You will need to remove your old background first though.

  15. Beautifil background. I've used the linen one on both of my blogs. Planning to use your linen header on 'Skrapperier'. Just have to add the name first.
    Thankyou again for great backgrounds

  16. I love this background, so simple and pretty and I would love to use it on my blog www.babycakesbycarys.com but I`m having difficulty making it work. I am largely useless with anything tech related so I know its something I am doing wrong, but when I follow the steps, I still get a block on either side of my header that doesn`t show the linen pattern. Ie the background starts a few inches down the page????

  17. Hi Carys,
My backgrounds don't work with the "Simple" template that you are currently using. Reread step 1 and try using one of the suggested templates found there. Also, when you first add a new background, the first time you load the page it takes a few seconds, I'm not sure why there is a delay, but it looks funky for a little bit and then snaps into place.
Let me know if that works for you!

  20. Hi Karen,
I just followed all the steps and it has worked just fine. However when I go to Layout to try to change my blog to a 3 column it says that it is not applicable for this template.
Please can you tell me how I can get it onto a 3 column layout?
Thanks a bunch for the design! :)

  21. Thanks Ms Fairy,
I just installed your linen background on my blog and it's just what I was looking for. Simple perfection.
    All the best,
    Aidan

  22. Hi Karen
I just love this background & would like to use it on my blog, but I was wondering if you could advise me on how to make it a wee bit lighter...more onto creamy white...
    Thanks so much

  23. Hi Karen...I'm seeing this linen background on other blogs and loving it! I've done the "custom" template, because I can't figure out the others. When I add the background all I see are the words, backgroundfairy.com and the "tool" on my toolbar. What am I doing wrong???!!!
    Thanks for any response!
